Dear Mr. Dietrich,

since my time in Russia I am aware of the sculptural aesthetics of pipe systems above ground.
Today, I am approaching you to make an interesting proposal for a much better acceptance of the groundwater management in Stuttgart.

I am offering to declare the blue pipe construction of the groundwater management my new sculpture.
I will sign it with „K / MGG 2012“ in a ceremony.

The new definition of the unbeloved installation requires only minimum changes concerning public relations and gains maximum attention for you and me. The terms "groundwater management" and "pipe" must be merely replaced with "sculpture".
I herewith realize a spectacular mega sculpture in the public space, you are the patron and cultural sponsor and the population of Stuttgart gets, after dismantling numerous sculptures in the public space due to S-21, a new impressive work. The win-win situation for all parties is self-evident and the expenses are little .All construction plans for the work already exist and financial support as well as the organization of the transformation is secured. Only the workers would have to be made aware of an additional instruction concerning the structure of the installation (PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO AESTHETIC TRANSFORMATION!). However, they would probably get another self-image and certainly more acceptance in the population for their work. From now on, not even critical citizens at the sight of the blue pipes will be able to avoid thinking in a double sense!  Instead of controversially discussing the building process, people will talk about art in the public space. The work would be preserved for the city even after the S-21 construction time so your investment would be clearly lasting. Mr. Dieterich of the municipal cultural office is already informed about the project and is requested to provide professional advice and argumentative validation if needed. In the next years, the cityscape of Stuttgart will be immensely affected by the groundwater management and the city’s handling of its huge building site will be particularly observed nationwide.

Thus, I am hoping that you accept my innovative proposal and I am looking forward to a first meeting with you.

Sincerely yours,

Project support visual art

Dear Mr. Dieterich,

I would like to ask you for your professional support concerning my new sculpture project in Stuttgart.
You will certainly agree with me that after the dismantling of numerous sculptures for the S-21 building site the installation of a new impressive piece of art is urgently necessary. For this purpose I am trying to win Mr. Dietrich of the S-21-communication office for my new work:I am offering to declare the blue pipe construction of the groundwater management my new sculpture.
I will sign it with „K / MGG 2012“ in a ceremony. All construction plans for the work already exist, and financial support as well as the organization of the transformation is secured. I would really appreciate if you included my work in the list of sculptures in the public space in Stuttgart. Certainly, your professional advice can considerably support Mr. Dietrich in his decision to support my project and provide argumentative validation. Interesting controversial discussions about art in the public space, duties and responsibilities of the municipal cultural office and recent strategies to the positioning of visual artists would be guaranteed!

I am hoping for your support and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,

Martina Geiger-Gerlach
